beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, right? if that is the case why to much pressure to be perfect?
women are known to struggle with this (cue the supermodel who thinks she has jiggly thighs) but men and children are not immune. with eating disorders, body shaming and something called a thigh gap in our regular vocabulary, beauty has become the all attainable goal. at what cost? everyone knows that social media is NOT where you should be setting your bar. almost no one puts a bad photo of themselves out for the world to see. do not compare your special self with giselle. seriously. unfollow if you must!
so what is beauty, really? a sunset, a smile that comes from the inside, a tender moment between lovers, an cuddle with your babies. these things, this are what are truly amazing. so fantastically beautiful your heart melts.
as a photographer it is THAT beauty i want to preserve forever. yes, i can magically turn you into to someone 20 years younger and 15 pounds lighter. but i don't want to. you earned this body, it houses your heart and your beautiful soul. trade untold number of happy moments into a wrinkle free face? no thanks. embrace the laugh lines. if everything is a little further south than it started, maybe it is because you brought gorgeous little people into this world.
you ARE beautiful. no matter who you are. no you just need to believe it.
